Two sheets of map separated into sections and mounted on linen & folded into 2 original slipcases. Original publisher's labels on cases: The Carolonia & Georgia south part [& north part]. This state of the map, printed before the Battle of Camden, apparently an earlier unrecorded printing, varies significantly from other known copies, notably in the detailed rendering of the "High Hills of Santee" (it was removed and relocated in the later states of the maps, on which a notation of the Battle of Camden has been added). Ms. annotations at the upper portion includes local place names and residents and such notes as "A Strong Creek," "Fordable for Cavalry in very dry weather," and "very rough strong country" (probably written by a South Carolinian, familiar with the area along Congaree River). Marbled paper covered slip cases are stored separately on "special box" shelf.
