He is seated next to a desk on the right which is covered with books and papers. A stack of books are on the floor and a foot stool is on the left. The setting reflects the fact that Jonathan Trumbull served as Governor of Connecticut during the revolution. The title is a facsimilie signature. The copy stored as matted was displayed in an exhibition titled: Connecticut in the American Revolution, on display in Anderson House from October 27, 2001 through May 11, 2002. Johnathan Trumbull was made an honorary member of the Society of the Cincinnati from the state of Connecticut in 1901.
