Contents: (1-8): partially printed land warrants representing 8 of approximately 300 originally issued to Clark. Each entitles the recipient " to lay off and survey" 560 acres "in lieu of the bounty of $750" [signed] 29 Jan. 1780 S. Carr, C.R.L.C. These were to have been used to induce enlistments (the library holds two other examples of these land office treasury warrants: MSS L1989.1.308 and MSS L1989.1.309)-- (9) announces the election of 5 commissioners "to negotiate with the Indians" 4 March 1784: Clark, Oliver Wescott, N. Greene, R. Butler, and S. Higginson [signed] Chas. Thomson, Secy. -- (10) Clarke announces that an office "for receiving applications for State military claims of land" will open in Louisville on 2 Aug. 1784 -- (11) Receipt to Capt. Ruddle [i.e. Isaac Ruddell?] for 10 1/2 dollars to be forwarded to William Clark for land in the Illinois grant.
