Note
A George Nicholson appears in the British Army Lists between 1757 (as a captain in the 3rd Regiment of Foot) and 1776 (as a major in the same regiment); a George Chadine Nicholson of New York appears in Heitman's Historical Register as major in the 1st Canadian Regiment, 1775 and a colonel in 1776.
Requests a commission from the Gentlemen (possibly of the Continental Congress?) to replace the one "lost ... in the Retreat from Quebec" where he had served as aide de camp to the "Commander in Chief in Canada."
Also concerns his military service, both for England and for the United States, in which latter service he served with "the Brave, the Gallant, but unfortunate General Montgomery, as Surgeon to the Train of Artillery."
