[S.l.] 1779
Description
[2] p. ; 19 cm.
Call Number
MSS L1998F512
Note
Relays George Washington's decision to dismiss the Connecticut militia, the commander-in-chief's gratitude for their "alacrity in marching to the aid of the Continental troops," and for "turning out for the defence of their Common Cause when the enemies of America were attempting to distress & ravage the country."
Because the enemy are still at Verplanks Point and fortifying Stony Point, Washington desires that the troops be kept "in a most powerful readiness to march..."
Apparently sent by Lieut. Col. Bardsly [i.e. Beardsly?] whose name appears at foot of letter.
