Head and shoulders, torso to the left, head in profile to the left, in uniform. He wears a red ribbon and a number of military honors including the eagle of the Society of the Cincinnati, Ordre de Saint-Louis, Grand Cross de la Legion of Honor, Ordre of Military Merit of Maximilien-Joseph of Bavaria, and Ordre des Deux Siciles.
On the back of the frame is a typewritten identification which reads as follows: "Guillaume Mathieu Comte DUMAS
