Half-length portrait, in uniform with hat, facing left, in oval surrounded by flag, cannon, liberty cap, laurel wreath, and shield with title below. In a rectangle with border 1/16.
Probably dates from about 1778, the date of the French alliance with America.
Is part of a series of prints, produced by the house of Dupin, depicting American heros. This is the French copy. An English copy of the portrait is displayed in a simpler oval on a pedestal.
