A sketch of the shoreline, not drawn to scale, outside Charleston Harbor showing Sullivan's Island with the fort to the right. Letters are placed on the drawing to identify significant features on the shoreline and to identify the positions of boats in the harbor during the battle. A key below the title lists the lettered features. Dedication: "To Commodore Sir Peter Parker, kn.t &c. &c. &c. This view is most humbly dedicated and presented by Lieutenant Colonel Thomas James, Royal Regiment of Artillery, June 30th 1776." An unrecorded version of this engraving by William Faden; hand colored & slightly different title with the same dedication (see also L2009F41f).
