Letters are placed on the drawing to identify significant features on the shoreline and to identify the positions of boats in the harbor during the battle. A key below the title lists the lettered features. Dedication: "To Commodore Sir Peter Parker, kn.t &c. &c. &c. This view is most humbly dedicated and presented by Lieutenant Colonel Thomas James, Royal Regiment of Artillery, June 30th 1776."
